Roadtrip 2023 Spring: Seaside - Waldport - Bend - Rock Creek Schoolhouse - Richland

Day 5 - Foraging Newport, Our Home Beach

On the deck at the Clearwater, we can keep a close eye on the so-called NOAA "research" ships. They always have strange stuff on their decks - usually with Cyrillic or Korean writing on them. Some of it is very old: "CCCP".

This is our beach access point from our Waldport house. It's a bit of a treasure hunt through the neighbourhood to find it! NO easy access here - the dirt path had a mudslide over top of it - the stairs are wonky and the final steps to the beach are driftwood logs stacked in a stair like form. It works if you're very able bodied - or have 4 legs to hop skip and jump it.

That's our coastal house for 3 weeks. Only the roof line and chimney can be seen from the beach. Luckily we do have a perch over the ocean from the deck and NW corner of the house.

Our beach features the most interesting wood forms - from tiny twigs to monster pieces.

I am the guardian of the Sea Woods and all her people. None shall pass.

Ella is certain she can trick the guardian and do whtever she pleases.

So far for this trip - it's a rare sunset over Waldport.
